Sadly, other reviews are accurate - it's a hustle

I stopped in at Garden of Eden, hoping that the reviews here were exaggerating the hustle/trust issues in the club. They are certainly aggressive at getting you in the door. The street caller invites you to come over, has you talk with a girl, she takes you into the private dance area, sits you down, then tells you about options while giving a clothed mini-dance. They are pretty up front with the availability of "extras", so it is likely a high-mileage club if you've got the dough.

After doing the "tour" (twice actually, I turned it down on Wednesday, then came back Friday and had a nearly identical experience), I talked with the guy at the front door. He had just told the guy in front of me $15, which the woman who gave the tour heard and said "oh, I guess we're doing $15." I walked up, he scanned my ID (as many of the clubs on Broadway do), then asked for $20. I told him I was told $15, he protested for a minute but the woman told him to just go with $15, so he did.

The club itself is quite small - seating for maybe 25 or so people. The dancers are almost entirely black, though there were a few latinos I believe. A variety of dance skill, though no one really doing anything impressive on the pole in the 20 minutes I was watching. I had been quoted $40/song for topless dances by one dancer. Another told me $150 - $200 for 15 minutes. I saw one dancer on stage who was super sexy, asked her to come over. She quoted me $60/song topless, $100/song nude. Yeesh...I liked her, but that's way too expensive so I passed.
