First visit to G2000
I happened to be staying in a nearby hotel, walking distance from G2000, and dropped in on a Tuesday evening, early December 2015, around 6:30 PM. No one was collecting a cover by the main door, so I continued in and a pleasant security/manager type told me I had to check my shoulder bag and retrieve it from the coatcheck on leaving. He took it and gave me a coatcheck ticket. Fair enough.
The place is actually very large, with multiple stages but with Tuesday night being slow, only the area around the bar is open. The bar is a large hollow rectangle surrounding a lengthy stage. When I walked up to the bar I saw customers standing back and leaning against a brass railing. It looked odd but it became clear in a short while why they were there. I took a place at the bar, ordered a beer, imported, perhaps $6. In front of me there were three dancers on the long stage. I’m using the word “dancer” very loosely because the women kind of shuffled and casually moved their bodies, new dancers getting on one end, replacing the dancers who were already on but getting off the stage at the other end. I talked with someone with some knowledge of this club and they said that this “dancing” is what is required by the management. Dancers started in some kind of gown and took off clothing as they proceeded to the other end. OK, as to why some customers hung back and leaned on the railing: as each dancer left the stage during rotation she would walk around the interior of the bar soliciting a tip from seated or standing people at the bar. Nothing more than a buck seemed to be expected and I thought that was reasonable. Like in most clubs, these women aren’t getting wages, only tips and dance fees. Those guys hanging back at the railing were excusing themselves from tipping. With no cover charge at that time of day, I guess you can see some nice women for the price of beverage or two. I’m not rich, but that seems like a cheap ass thing considering how these women make their take home pay, but I admit that the dollar tips started to add up over a couple of hours. Still, if you’re a real tightwad, you can get in, get a beverage for five bucks or so, then lean on the railing for an hour eyeing the dancers. Pretty cheap entertainment.
Food. I rarely make a point of eating strip club food but I heard that this place had possibilities. I was running around all day and I was ready for something to eat. I asked for a menu and there were specials. As I recall, M-W were dollar burger nights. Maybe Thursday too but I don’t remember for sure. I was surprised enough when I ordered a cheeseburger and the bar maid asked how I wanted it done. I was expecting the minimum attention to that sort of thing. Then I was surprised to find the fries were included. I received an excellent cheeseburger, cooked medium, with fries for a buck. Of course, as you’re wait for your burger and eating your meal you’re still tipping the dancers as they finish their rotation. I think I remember some tall tables near the other side of the bar, so that may have been an option.
