Usually when I go downtown, I hit up Rouge, but Rouge has been on a decline, so I decided to try Spyce this time around. Spyce used to be one of my favorites back in the day. The cover is 6 bucks on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday night, but about a block away from Spyce there's always someone handing out Spyce VIP passes. The cover is only a buck if you have one of those passes.
On this Saturday night it wasn't too busy as far as customers, but there were a decent amount of dancers (20-25). They have five stages. When you walk in there's two stages to the left of you. Originally those two stages were for the minors, but I've seen some girls over 21 dance on there, so I don't know if that's the case anymore. Anyways when you walk in, right in front of you is the main stage, there's another stage by the stairs, and there's one stage upstairs. There's three bars, two on the first floor, and one upstairs. Keep in mind though upstairs is only open on Friday and Saturday.
I would say Spyce is a upscale place. It's not super big, so when it gets get busy, it's hard to walk around. The customers are generally the younger crowd (21-30). I think a lot of that has to do with Spyce being downtown. Spyce is a topless club, so the panties don't come off on stage or in the dances. On a weekend night there will be 3 or 4 bouncers. Drink prices are a little more expensive than the average Portland club. As far as the stageshow, it's ok. You will get boobies in the face etc. Spyce is more of a party spot than most Portland clubs. Spyce reminds me a little bit of Sapphire in Vegas as far as the party atmosphere goes and the lighting of the club.
