Lunchtime Lappers Lacking
It has been over a year since I visited HBs. Happened to be in the area and thought I would grab lunch a few beers and a few lap dances. I recalled now why I had been in no hurry to return to HBs during the day and why it's been over a year. Heavenly Bodies used to be the Old Higgins Cafe' featuring the "Heavenly Bodies" dancers. It was good place for the construction crews working on airport projects and/or nearby roadways to grab a sandwich, a few brews and gawk at some 'young strange'while taking a quick lunchbreak. When HBs was all we had in Chicago, except for the Admiral Theater, the Oak Theater and peep shows, it stood in for a real strip club. Just like the demise of Playboy magazine, other options to see T&A became available in the Chicago and NW Indiana area. Never-the-less, it was always a good training opportunity for community college co-eds who were not sure how far they wanted to go in the Adult Entertainment business. It was safe, cheap fun and you could meet up with your buds after work for drinks and teasing.
TODAY
No major changes have been made to the interior decor and the gravel lot outside was pocked with potholes and rain-filled mudtracks. I got there just after 2 p.m. and still required to pay a $10 cover upon entering. I did not have to check my outerwear as I left that in the car. Domestic beers set me back $1.50 and I gave my waitress $3 everytime she brought me another to mt y table. I recognized her from 15 years + and she gave me the lunch menu from memory verbatim. Did I mention that the Food was FREE ??? There were two girls dancing to three shortened ( 2:15) songs on two stages. I decided to tip a few bucks to a petite brunette (ANGEL) who inquired if I would be getting dances later. I had not received my lunch/beer before i tipped her. She never came by to say "Thank you" or ask if I wanted to get the "Five lappers for Fifty" or visit the Champagne Room. The other dancer "Joy" never said "Boo." I was approached by "Lori" who lightly rubbed my back and painfully tried her best to engage me in small talk. I know Day Shift is a training ground; however it shouldn't be THIS difficult for a dancer to make $$$ when there might have been only a dozen guys in the club. I thanked my waitress and told her it was time to return to work. I had several hundred dollars in my pocket and decided to visit a casino instead of "painfully watching paint dry" at HBs on the day shift.
