Kitty's on a summer Friday
I visited Kitten’s for the first time on a warm, sunny Friday summer evening. My expectations were not high. Often there are few dancers and patrons when the weather is that good. And the reviews for Kitten’s were not that good.
My initial impressions were mixed. The layout was a bit unusual. After paying a $5 cover I entered the huge main room, with a large, square center stage with a long side stage connected to the main stage. Surrounding the stage was a low rail, and the shelf next to the stage was wider than the shelves at most gentlemen’s clubs, creating distance between the performers and the patrons. Seats were not particularly comfortable. The bar area was off to the left of the entry, but did not provide a good view of the stage. The dressing room was behind the stage, and the VIP private dance area was to the left of the dressing room. From a seat at the stage, I had a partial view into the VIP area. A game room (not used while I was there) was straight ahead beyond the main room.
Early in the evening (I arrived about 5:30 pm, three and a half hours after opening) there were five dancers, and a few more patrons. The top dancer was an 8 or 9, but not my style. The other four were only in the 5 to 7 range.
