.... third stop on no-cover Monday....

I actually drove by three or four other clubs on the way to get here from Vegas Showgirls. Figured I'd finally try Mermaids, a dancer at Atlantis I'd chatted with some time back said she bartended here and figured it couldn't be worse than my previous stops. First off it's a clean but worn club. (Which is actually the same vibe I get about St. Pete Beach itself, while driving south on Gulf, so it fits in well). I could see it easily packed with spring breakers. Tonight (and it was after 8 so in my mind night shift should have started) there were three other customers one plump blond dancer with a cute face and a trim bartender (who apparently would do dances too).

The dancer did stop by and we chatted (no I wasn't interested in a dance) and regularly checked in with all the customers -- she did one private dance while I was there. The bartender was friendly. The beer cold. But it's clear Monday isn't a day for strip clubs.

If I was ever on St. Pete Beach on a Thursday or Friday night, I'd try it just to see the vibe. Though I suspect as a previous reviewer said, it's a locals bar.
