Two weird day visits on a single day
I was in Tampa killing time before picking up someone from the nearby airport. Needed to get lunch first and determined I could eat at Riveters next door and then check out 2001. The two adjacent businesses have limited surface parking lots, but I found a spot right in front of 2001. Had a great lunch and then headed over to the club around 2pm. I was told by the door girl that because only one dancer was working there would be no cover. OK. I entered the club. Odd space. Low ceiling. One stage is visible. It is not raised and is surrounded by low chairs. Bar stools and tables are further back.
The only working stripper comes out and tells me there are no stage shows right now but I can have a private dance. She is a young red head, passably attractive. I get the menu of private dances: $250 for 15 minutes, $350 for 30. It’s too much for me and too fast. I leave.
5 hours later I return to Riveters for dinner. Solid place with lots of screens and good beers. I head over to 2001 after. The door girl remembers me. Still no cover. Now two girls are working and the place has three other patrons, a DJ and a security goon. The club has monitors that show pictures of the club dancers (where are these girls?) and one TV (the local news is on.) I watch the stage show for both girls. Three song sets, topless after 2, nude after 3. The girls are OK but the energy level is low. Both dancers are Hispanic and both approach me for private dances. I want the shortest nude dance available (I am still on airport duty). One quotes $50, the other $40 for a one song nude dance. The taller one is more appealing and less expensive. I take her back. Nice show but not very engaging. Though this club opens at noon I do not recommend the day shift.
