I was in town for the Nascar race that was postponed from Saturday night to Sunday. Since I had plenty of free time I decided to hit up Richard's Rendezvous. Arrived about 11pm and staid until closing time at 2am. The club is a smaller building that while well marked is certainly not as flashy on the outside as a lot of clubs.
When I went in it reminded me of a friendly neighborhood bar. The walls are mostly covered in mirrors which is a nice touch. The club does have a slight, but not excessive, smoke smell and is a little too brightly lit for my tastes.
The club is too clean and well maintained to be classified as a dive, but it does have that laid back no pressure atmosphere that is the reason I usually go to dives. In fact, in 3 hours I never had a dancer ask me for a dance or drink unless I had asked the to come visit me after they finished their stage set. Both the bartender and waitress were friendly and easy on the eyes. The dj played mostly older rock, but also took requests from dancers and customers, and he only spoke to introduce dancers and to get people to clap as each girl left the stage.
