Nice, convenient club with attractive dancers, but a disappointing visit
Silk is conveniently located in downtown Milwaukee, within walking distance of the stadium, theaters, restaurants, and many hotels. There's a parking ramp across the street if you come from further away. It's nearly anonymous, with just a small "S" sign on an otherwise nondescript building.
Cover was $15. Coat check was $7 (this used to be free). A bottle of water was $7.
The club is a long, narrow rectangle with a bar down a good section of the right side. There are three small stages with tables and chairs between them. The club feels crowded without many people because of the shape. The tables have comfortable chairs, but there are only a few of them so you're either sitting down with random people or standing. The layout also makes it inconvenient to watch more than one stage at a time. There's no smoking, per Wisconsin law. The lighting was good -- not too bright, but the stages were well lit.
For a Friday night the club was surprisingly sedate. A bit after ten there were only a handful of people there. By midnight it was crowded, but the energy still felt low. Dancers were rotated through the first two stages, but not the third, doing one song on each. The performances were diverting, but not engrossing. Dancers got topless or, more commonly, pulled their tops aside or up to reveal their breasts near the end of their song.
Maybe two dozen dancers were working. A couple were very thin, a couple thick, and most somewhere in between. Most were quite fit; only a few were a bit overweight/pudgy. Nearly all were natural. One or two were really eye catching. Unfortunately the vibe didn't match the way the dancers looked. Most seemed bored and/or unhappy to be there, whether on stage or sitting around. This improved a little as the crowd picked up, but not by much.
Lap dances were $30/song in individual booths in a shared room off the floor. They were very strictly no-touch. The dancer told me there was no touching for those dances. The guy I paid before the dance made a point of saying there's no touching the dancer. And then the dancer felt it necessary to say yet again as the song started that there was no touching. I don't think I come off as a particularly aggressive or handsy patron, so all the warnings were kind of irritating. The dance itself was fine.. she took off her top and got in my lap in a few orientations. There was no touching on my part, but it wasn't an air dance.
They have individual curtained off VIP booths for more private dances. Touching is allowed there. I think it's about $200 for a half hour. I didn't confirm that this trip. I didn't connect with any dancers enough to explore it.
Silk is a nice club. It's in good shape with a decent atmosphere and attractive dancers. But the layout isn't great, this trip was way too loud, and you have to find a dancer worth $200 to get an interesting lap dance with some fondling. I've had a good enough time here before, but this trip was a bit disappointing.
