I have amazing news. My all time favorite club in Mexico is back in action: MERMAIDS!! For you Cabo rookies out there, Maids was the only game in town through the 90s and early 2000s. It is hard to put your finger on what made it such a great place. Basically it was just fun! The girls were always smiling and having a good time and not hassling you for money and private dances. But alas, all good things must come to an end. It was sold in the mid 2000s and slowly took a nosedive until it just wasn´t worth going to anymore. But... I was in Cabo last night and saw some new signs up at Mermaids on my way to CaboWabo. It had been called Crazyhorse when I was in town last year but the Mermaids signs with the familiar red kiss logo were back!

I couldn´t believe it when I walked inside... It has been completely redone from top to bottom and looks like a really cool L.A. club with a few touches of the old place left around here and there. The bar is beautiful and was being tended by girls rather than the old bartender from back in the day. All of the employees were new for that matter. It was kind of weird not knowing anybody there but it was time to give the whole place a brand new start. I introduced myself to the new manager, a very nice guy who spoke perfect English named Roberto. I told him about how many times I had been there in the past and how many people I had recommended Mermaids to over the years. He told me that one of the original owners had decided to take the place back over and bring it back to its former glory, and then some! The plan is to build a team of gorgeous dancers just like before, girls from all over Mexico who are not only hot but super cool as well, same as always! They already had about 15 girls going and most of them were very cute. Roberto said that many of the dancers had been scared away by the hurricane in September and are just now starting to come back to town but he promised that they will have over 20 handpicked girls within the next couple of weeks.

I had some private dances which were all nude and as touchy feely as ever. Drink prices were not bad and dances were still 20bucks, same I was paying 20 years ago at this place. Girls sat down and talked to me without asking for money same as before. I bought two of them a drink when I found out that the drinks for the girls were only 10 bucks. They are almost twice that in other clubs in Cabo. I was really amazed at how beautiful the place is now, it even smells clean, even the bathrooms were new and sparkling.

There is still no sex allowed on the premises, same as before. But if you think about it, that attracts a different kind of girl and that is one of the reasons that Mermaids is and always was so fun. The girls! If you are a Mermaids fan, rejoice, it is back! If you have never been go, you won´t regret it!! I will be going to Cabo a lot more often now that my favorite club is back and better than ever.
