I had not been back to...
I had not been back to Camelot in a while, and they recently (summer2014) completed a renovation of the place. I work nearby on K st, so I stopped by to check it out one day after work.
The entrance procedures are the same as before - walk up and you are shown to your seat. I guess it could be off putting, but I just asked for a seat and table near the right side of the stage and got it no problem. There is no real dress code, but to my eye, you get treated better if you dress better. It is kind of a shirt and tie place, with no lap dancing (lile all of DC really).
The dancers are really good looking, I imagine they get more applicants than they need due to the strict no-contact rules and relative lack of competition. Stage dances are pretty slow paced and sexy, rather than energetic and slutty. The girls dance for 2 or 3 songs, then come around for tips. You can tip mid dance, but they make it kind of a hassle as you are not sitting exactly stage-side. You have to get up, walk over, and stand next to the stage to tip. After their dance is over, the girls come around to your table for the tips, and they all asked me if I wanted to buy them a drink. I declined all of them, and was not hassled or pressured to get one.
