The St James must have been...

The St James must have been better back in the day. But my visit on Thursday and Friday evenings were both very lackluster. The club itself is rather nice with three bars, an upstairs and main floor with four stages. The wait staff was very unobtrusive but attentive and the bartenders were great. One even remade my martini when he noticed it had a blue tint from a previous drink he had made. Drinks were a bit spends at $10.25 each (don't know what the beer was). And the food was pretty good, I had a shrimp cocktail and a filet which were as good as any medium to high end steakhouse. But the downside were the dancers, both their looks and their attitudes. It's clear that if you're not a familiar face or you're not in a group then they totally ignore you. I felt invisible both nights. There certainly is a United Nations feel to the dancer line up with every ethnic group representated, but there were actually very few white girls. But I suppose it is TX, so maybe that's to be expected. I'm not usually that particular, but there were only about 2-3 dancers each night that I felt were worthy of spending money on. I did manage a couple of dances with a girl-next-door brunette, a sexy blonde Russian (Nero), and a dark-haired Hawaian. Of the three, Nero was the one that I had the most connection with. But none of them provided a level of service that I thought the St James was previously famous for. They were just a good grind with not much sensuality. I guess at $20 a song I shouldn't complain. There wasn't much up sell either. Maybe this poor experience can be chalked up to the fact I'm an out-of-owner. But if they new better they would keep their eyes peeled for us because we usually have $$ to burn. $10 valet was probably worth it since when I left around 12:30 on Friday the lot was packed. Overall an average to below average experience. I'll probably try some other options next time I'm in Houston. There a lot of options.
