While I've explored pretty much all of the clubs on Bourbon Street, I'd never even known about some of the other clubs in the quarter. Read a review of the Artists' Cafe on TUSCL, and decided to take a gamble.
It was late afternoon when I stopped in - happy hour, so to speak. Immediately upon entering, I thought I might be in the wrong place, or at least not in a particularly good place to be. The stage is a small one behind the bar, but there were no dancers, and no bartender. Only an older man sitting alone in the corner of the bar. Turns out, he was the bartender. I ordered a rum and coke ($6, I believe; not too bad of a price for as strong as it was). I began to notice that there were a few girls in the back of the building, talking to each other. Assuming that their shift was just starting, I waited it out.
Sure enough, a very attractive Latina joined me at the bar for some brief conversation. I certainly was interested in a lap dance. The conversation was slow and awkward; she said she would be right back, and excused herself to the back room. I waited a song or two, finished my drink, then decided to move on.
