This venue has undergone many different owners and name changes over the past couple of years. Now it is called "Dixie Rose Cabaret" in Abilene, TX. It's hidden off the main road enough and not too hard to get to. Cover was $7.00, not too bad for a Thursday. Then you walk in. At first glance you would think that this was a private club considering the lack of dancers onstage and people just kind of mulling around. There were about 1-5 girls that appeared to be dancers, they looked the part. So I made my way over to the bar, had to wait about 5 minutes to get my beer. They had pool tables, a regular bar with full liquor, beer tubs, etc. The crew here seemed very familiar with each other, like either they frequent this place often. It was a chill atmosphere. But perhaps too chill for a venue like this.

Having been to various strip clubs in higher metro areas, the first thing that hits you is, of all things in a strip club, dancers not looking for cash, VIP or lap dances. Actually, this is the first strip club where if you are someone new you are pretty much ignored by the dancers. Which is baffling considering the lack of clients in this venue. I remember years ago being in a southern state in a club and within 6 steps of me walking in the door I was greeted by this amazing brunette who within minutes had a lap dance and VIP room paid for. Clearly, that isn't the vibe here. I wonder who trained these girls and how they make any kind of money? If you didn't walk in the door knowing this was an adult venue, you would think this is someone's house party.

The girls were pretty normal looking that were dancing, the white dancers appeared to be college co-eds. That could explain their lack of experience and knowing how things work in a real adult venue. There was a little blonde girl in glasses running around like she was a manager or co-owner or something, really hard to tell, the most striking thing she did was actually take windex and start wiping off poles. Odd for what is supposed to be prime earnings hours late in the evening. At least the place was clean.

The dancer-turned bartender was clearly new at tending bar, but she was trying. In all actuality, she was the only female in this establishment to acknowledge my existence. Several patrons asked her how the "hottest" girl in the club could be tending bar. A valid point. Since she had some spirit, great looking hair and personable.

There was another girl at the bar, apparently a dancer there also, in street clothes getting completely bombed off of Patron shots that her apparent friends there were buying her. She made the rounds and hit up everyone she knew, who of course, purchased her shots, you know like a pretty girl does at a real bar when she knows all male eyes are on her. Her and the bartender oddly were indeed the two most attractive girls there. I guess it would just be my luck that neither one of them actually were dancing on the night in question.
