I'd never been to Desiree's before...
I'd never been to Desiree's before and had the hardest time finding it. (Tip, you'll have to park in a lot or garage nearby and hoof it because it's in a pedestrian plaza.) My initial impressions were not that favorable. You head down into a basement and out into a large - but when I visited largely empty - bar. You could easily get 100+ people in there, and on a Friday evening there were not more than 6 patrons. However, my first impressions were misleading. The owner - Pietro - came over and warmly greeted me, asked where I was from, told me a little about the place, really welcomed me. I didn't see any dancers when I first walked in, but in a few minutes a couple appeared. One, a sweet and cute girl whose name was Angie I think, came over and sat down. We had the usual small talk, and she asked me if I wanted a dance. That's why I was there, so I said sure. She took me to the VIP room - which had several old couches - and she gave me a nice dance for $20. Nothing special and no extras were offered or requested. I then went back to the bar, and another dancer came over. Unlike the first, she was neither sweet nor cute. She said she'd been dancing there for years, and she certainly looked like she'd been around the block - dragged around the block really. I got an overpriced table dance from her and had no interest in anything else from her. Later, Mandy came over and chatted with me. She's very cute, and we had a good conversation. I ended up headed back to the VIP for another couple dances. Again, good but not special and no extras were offered or requested. Bottom line for me is that Desiree's is a quiet, relaxed neighborhood club with generally friendly girls. I'll probably go back when I just need someplace to chill out, chat and have a few OK dances.
