Visions is Visions . . . you either love it or you don't. As a local, I appreciate dive-y, slightly disreputable places. I almost never go to Bourbon Street, even though at a club like Rick's or Penthouse you will find more attractive girls. Certainly Visions has lower standards than many/most clubs and you will see some girls there about whom you will wonder how they ever could have gotten a job stripping. However, every time I go, there is at least one friendly and attractive girl - and ultimately that's all you need. The drinks are reasonably priced, the shot girls are a little pushy yet still friendly, and if you don't go expecting too much you will have a very nice time for not that much money. BTW, skip the $20 dances - for an extra $10 the VIP room experience is infinitely better.
