I went to Onyx for the first time on Friday night. The club is a bit hard to find, as it's almost underneath the Walt Whitman bridge. You've really got to watch your back when you go in. There was a large security guard wearing a bulletproof best at the front door. There is a mandatory patdown before you go in which is more thorough than anything I've experienced before. I damn near felt violated!

After that, I went in and paid the $10 cover.

The club large large, spacious and elegant. However, there must've been at least 50 to 60 dancers working, all were either black or Latina. I was immediately approached by an aggressive dancer asking me if I wanted to go in the back. I declined and got a mixed drink which costs $10! Looking around, I was amazed at the large lesbian customer base. Almost a third of them are women! I saw several guys making it rain onstage to the tune of $100 per shower. I stood at the bar, and several dancers came by offering to go in the back. The grind they give you standing up was great. I finally took a well built dancer named Rain back for 2 songs. It was pricey at $25 per song, but she was good with unlimited roaming.

If you're into the hip hop scene, lesbians and making it rain with absurd amounts of cash, then this club is for you. If not, please look elsewhere. I don't know if I'd go again, but if I do, it wouldn't be for a long while.
