Glad I made the trip out...

Glad I made the trip out here after the recommendation of a restaurant waiter (of all people). I was furloughed in New Orleans while waiting to go offshore, so I had some time to kill and was thinking about walking to Bourbon Street. The waiter told me this was the "locals" strip club and was way better than the hustle of Bourbon. I had the good fortune of going on a night when they had one of their two Christmas parties. There was free food, no cover and they were handing out raffle tickets on the way in. Too bad they weren't raffling off a girl! There are two u-shaped bars/stages on either side of the main stage. The girls dance a few songs on the main stage then make their way to one of the two bars/stages. There are stools bolted to the floor all around the u-shaped bars and each girl stops at each stool and shakes it for a tip. This is a genius setup from the bar's standpoint. You pretty much have to tip each and every girl that comes by, so they have to make $50 minimum every time on the stages. The length of the stop definitely varies as well as the exposure. Some wouldn't even crouch down (the bars are pretty high so if a girl wearing six inch heels is on top you won't get as good of a view) but some would stick it right in your face. After the girls get off stage they walk around the bar area. While I had a few ask for dances as the first word out their mouth, I had a few sit down and chat first. The place has a laid-back atmosphere and is actually pretty pleasant. They have two different lap dance areas, one with basically no privacy and one with booths closed on three sides. The open area had $20 dances and the more private one was $30. I had dances in both, but the private is the way to go. There is a guy at the entrance to the private area that somewhat tracks how many dances the girls do. One girl I went back with lied to the guy and told him half the amount of songs we did! She said she hates paying the club extra so lies every time, hoping she'll get a big tip. Works for me, so I gave her a big tip and still came out ahead. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in New Orleans.
