The Big Easy is the newest...
The Big Easy is the newest and most upscale of the three French-Maid clubs, with upstairs and downstairs seats, both for viewing the one very large stage. It’s north of downtown and was pretty dead on the Tuesday evening (9 PM to midnight) I visited. About half of the dancers were doing great stripteases, but the other half were unmotivated, performing the half-stripteases I mentioned in my review of the French Maid. The stage is also huge, so it was hard to get a good view. Also it was quite dark.
A couple of the Big Easy dancers got particularly carried away with their costumes, remaining covered from neck to toe for close to two songs (one wore a scuba outfit, complete with a tank, and it took her almost two songs just to expose her neck!). This was quite entertaining, but more along the lines of a Disney flick. Probably not the best approach for a strip club dancer.
If, by chance, someone from the club management reads this review, I’d like to make some suggestions. Perhaps the Big Easy (and Speak Easy) could allow two dancers to dance simultaneously all the time, as they did on one occasion during my visit. This would make better use of the quite oversized stage. Also, the stage could use a lot more light—the kind that illuminates the dancers and not the kind that blinds the audience (like the row of lights around the stage and some of those above it). AND BETTER VENTILATION.
