Great times can be had at...

Great times can be had at this neighborhood club. Back in the FLL area for work, and checked out four Pompano Beach clubs. The Porthole Pub is unassuming but offers a relaxing, friendly experience.

The Pub is located in a small strip mall just East of I-95. No big signs or any external indicator that it's anything more than a local beer joint. Inside, there is a large open square bar; the stage and some small round tables are on one side, but the daytime crowd was all seated at the bar. Overall, the place is a little run down but clean and decently run by one or two friendly bartenders. The talent on the two days I visited was a couple of Caucasian moms (who appeared to be veterans and seemed to have regular customers ) and 4-6 friendly, nubile, much younger African-American girls. The vibe is very laid-back: find a bar stool, order a drink, and the ladies circulate, cop a feel, and offer company and dances. No pressure, no up-selling on my visits. Once I got used to having my crotch grabbed (called the "Porthole handshake" by one dancer) I relaxed and had a lot of fun. Dances at your stool are $10, VIP is $25, and there were frequent 2 for 1 specials. The dancers and bartenders were really friendly to a visitor; most of the customers appeared to be regulars, but newcomers will feel welcome. I appreciated the absence of a mercenary attitude by the dancers--it's all about relaxing and having a good time with the girls. If I lived in SoFLA the Porthole Pub would be a habit.

Didn't visit after dark, so I don't know whether things change after the mall stores close. Also, didn't inquire about extras. Overall, the Pub was a great place to de-stress after work, which was exactly what I had in mind.
