Another visit to the Hippo, in...
Another visit to the Hippo, in hopes that season was starting back up. I arrived at around 6 or 7 to fairly full parking lot, with no attendant on duty. Into the entrance that had recently been occupied with a metal detecting dude more often than not, but didn't have one this time. So, no charge to park and no cover - good start. The $5 parking and $10 cover start at 7. The lack of being wanded was nice, I'm not sure why I didn't like it when they did it, but I didn't.
Not much has changed inside, the club is still fairly well maintained and clean. There is still a fairly obvious presence of bouncers and the like. It did appear that my hope was realized, as there seemed to be more waitresses and strippers and more importantly better looking strippers than recent visits. They cut ties with a few of the more worn dancers (including the one SC shared the news story about in the forums) and got a few younger ones in their place. I also saw a few of the seasonal girls back. There were a few girls in gowns, but they seem to have ditched that requirement as well. Being $10 Tuesday, there were quite a few customers - but not so many that tables weren't still available, just not the best ones. I grabbed one of the available tables and within a few minutes had a reasonably priced happy hour cocktail ($5 before 8, $9 after). They were doing 4 song sets and using both of their stages, with the girl doing 2 songs on each stage. Most girls got naked on the second song on the main stage and then put their bottoms back on for the next two songs on the smaller stage.
As I mentioned, it was $10 Tuesday - which means dances were $10 all day. Normally $15 before 8 and $25 after. I got a few dances from dancers I knew, and sampled a few newer ones. As usual, mileage is pretty good but extras are limited to non-existent. The $125 15 minute room isn't discounted at all on Tuesdays.
