After a very unsatisfying visit to Silk on the south side, I decided, despite uniformly negative reviews, to check out Paradise Cove on the southeast side. I paid either $5 or $10 cover, bought a $4 Coke, and settled in to scope out the place. On a Friday night after midnight there were at least a dozen dancers -- I would estimate 8-10 white and 3-4 black -- and twenty-some customers, making this small and crappy club feel pretty full.
Paradise Cove is one room with a bar on one side, a stage in the middle, and tables with cheap kitchen-type chairs all around. The private dance area is not very private at all.
I had just about decided to bail when a drunk dancer named Jade rubbed up against me and mumbled in my ear "They don't watch me in the private dance area". Besides $20 for the dance itself, she demanded $6 for the house mom (or someone -- this part was vague) and $5 for the jukebox, which I reduced to $2. As you can tell, I was letting my small head do the thinking. For my $28 I was eventually treated to one of the worst lap dances I have ever experienced. I don't ordinarily mention names of dancers, but Jade is a drunken ROB who promises much more than she delivers. Beware!
