Alas, how the mighty have fallen. Time was when Kahoots/Vernon was among my favorite clubs. Yes, $30 for a dance was more expensive than anyone else, but one got value for the money: the girls were gorgeous, the pressure low, the time generous, the bouncers unobtrusive, and even the food good. Over the last couple of months all that – I stress “all” – has changed. An apparent decline in talent has accompanied a management policy that includes a generally pushy atmosphere out on the floor, the girls punching a clock in the p.d. room, and a reduction in kitchen hours. Not that the last should be a major factor; we don’t go to strip clubs for the food, but it’s one more nail in the coffin. The absolute last straw, as far as I’m concerned, was the sight, more than once, of their new bouncer or lap dance inspector or whatever he thinks he is leering up at the dancer and me from below. I used to be a semi-regular here. No more!
