I was traveling through and stopped in Missoula for the night. Took the opportunity to visit Fox Club for the first time. Unfortunately, it was a Monday night; generally the worst night to visit any club. Arrived about 8:30 PM. Five dollar cover at the door. They had my favorite cider on tap for $5 a pint, definitely a pleasant surprise. Most of the evening there were 10 to 15 customers present.
This club is really a great facility. Better than any I have visited in Oregon or Washington. A tremendous amount has been spent on an elaborate lighting system for the main stage. It is very large and there are two large, lighted, bubbling cylinders at the sides. A very large club.
There were about 5 or 6 dancers working. Pretty average looks, about 5's to 6's. But as I said, it was a Monday and I'm not sure if the university was in session yet. Best of the lot was one named Nova who did an artistic performance with two lighted hula hoops. Dancers did three song sets, getting nude for the last number. I sat at a table to the side of the stage for some, and tipped at the rail for others. None of the dancers made any attempt to interact with me. Maybe it was because I didn't seem very enthralled by their performances. Several seemed to have their regular locals they hung with.
If there is a private dance or VIP area here I didn't see it. If it is the semi-enclosed area in the middle of the room near the entrance, between the bar and the pool/poker room, it was not used. I saw a couple of dancers sit with customers at tables in the back corners for a couple songs. These may have been lap dances, but to me it appeared they were just talking. I may be mistaken, but it seemed any private dance action here is very limited.
There were a couple of things here which I really didn't like and spoiled the experience. The first was the lighting at the stage. The basic lighting was mostly dark blues and reds, and made the dancers look strange and did nothing to show them to the best advantage. The regular lights and strobe lights are choreographed to the music. When the strobe lights flashed they blinded the vision of anyone sitting at the sides of the stage. I found the whole lighting scheme to be a serious detriment to enjoyment of the dancing.
