I was in the western suburbs...

I was in the western suburbs of Detroit recently on a vacation trip and decided to give the infamous Bogart's Lounge a try -- two tries, in fact. This review is for two visits, on a Tuesday afternoon and a Thursday night, in mid-August.

The club is located on the north side of Michigan Avenue (US 12) in Inkster, just west of Middlebelt Road and almost across the road from the higher-class Flight Club. It's not much to look at, either outside or inside, but one doesn't visit a dive like Bogart's for the ambience. The cover on Tuesday was $5; I assume it would have been the same on Thursday evening, but no one was manning the door so I got in free.

On both occasions I bought a small Coke for about $7 plus tip and sat at a table facing the middle of three stages, all of which were in use. On the Tuesday visit I tipped two MILF types with large naturals. One of them came straight to me from her stage set and explained the menu. Her specialties were priced at $100 and $200 without any indication of a willingness to negotiate. Though Tuesday is 2-for-$20 day, I skipped paying by the dance and chose the $100 option, a truly exceptional BBBJCIM. I could probably have negotiated a better deal with another dancer, but this one caught my eye and was outstanding at what she did, so I have no regrets.
