As luck would have it, I was staying at the St. Regis Hitel, right around the corset from Archies'. I just had to pay it a visit. First impressions were that it is tiny. Strange setup with a long bar that runs almost the entire length of the room and two tiny stage areas where 1 girl at a time dances and guys walk up and stand there while she dances for them ($1 tip). There is no contact during the dance. If you elect not to go up while a girl is dancing, don't worry- they walk around to each customer in the establishment and hit them up for a tip, whether the customer could see them or not. It was almost mandatory, since to not tip them would almost require more effort than tipping. I had never seen that practice before, and definitely don't like it. As for the talent, I must say that it was very much to my liking- mostly tall, lean, and Caucasian. Many seemed to be Eastern European, an added bonus. Perhaps extras could have been negotiated but I was not interested in investing the time to find out. So after two very tiny and overpriced beers, I left. I realize that DC has some tough ordinances and that they can't exactly run a brothel in the literal shadow of the White House, but I think that I will refrain from going here on future visits, due to the whole nearly mandatory tipping thing.
