Went to Archibald’s for a buddy’s birthday a couple of Fridays ago. Hadn’t been there in years. The physical appearance of the club seems unchanged. Two things you’re almost guaranteed to encounter when going to Archibald’s at night are problems finding nearby parking (despite what other reviewers have said) and panhandlers on K Street. The panhandlers aren’t aggressive; they’re just annoying. If you can take Metro and walk a couple of blocks you’ll avoid the parking hassles (but not the panhandlers). There is no cover charge. I believe that is the case all the time. They make up in the drink prices what they miss out in cover charges. My advice is to stick with bottle beer (or sodas). Two Blue Moon drafts served in what appeared to be 10 oz glasses came to $19.80. Two Bud Light bottles came to about $17.50. I assume there’s a kitchen because I saw one of the dancers chowing down on a big bowl of fettucine Alfredo. It looked pretty good. I didn’t see any other food or a menu.

Archibald’s is in a 3-story building which could have been a townhouse in a former life. It’s on K Street in the heart of the downtown business district so I suspect it draws heavily from workers in the area. The top floor is a sports bar called Fast Eddies. The middle and bottom floors are Archibald’s. Both SC floors are one long and narrow room. After initially being led to the bottom floor by the doorman, he ended up seating us at the bar on the middle floor. I’m not sure why we were seated at the bar instead of a table, as there were some tables available. But it was all good. There are two stages on this floor. One is immediately to the left of the bar and one is in the back of the room. The dancers were mostly Caucasian. I saw maybe 1 light-skinned AA and no Latinas during the 90 minutes we were there. The only Asian was the bartender. She was hot and should have been a dancer. There was one stunning dancer with a landing strip, no ink, no implants and long brown hair. She was a 9+. The rest of the dancers were in the 6-8 range. By rule in DC, no lap dances are allowed. Because of this there is no apparent private or VIP area.

On the level where we were, apparently one of the two dancers chooses the songs from the jukebox. The dancers did three song sets and by the third song were totally nude. After their set they do the tip walk throughout the floor. The music selection was interesting. There was more rock than I’m used to in a SC. But that was OK with me. We didn’t have any of the dancers stop by to spend time with us. Perhaps because we were at the bar, who knows?
