Contrary to the previous review, Monroe's is one of three or four clubs within 5 miles and on this particular Friday afternoon I visited 3 of them, starting here. This was by far the least enjoyable.

The club is easy to get to on the corner of Okee and Congress, pretty close to 95 and the Airport. Parking is ample, with self park now an option for the furthest spots away from the door. I elected for the complimentary valet this time as I was in a vehicle that lent itself to valet & it was a bit rainy. I tipped a couple leftover singles on the way out and the guy seemed happy with it. Entry fee before 7pm was a buck, collected by a friendly enough girl inside.

Inside, they appear to be maintaining the club as there are no signs of rundown after the recent remodeling. Everything is clean and neat. Waitress service was a bit slow to start, as the only waitress was chatting with another table for a while - I wouldn't read too much into it, it was slow and maybe more of bad timing than bad service. My domestic beer was like $7, but it was 2-4-1. I was able to communicate with the waitress since the music was at a reasonable level, loud but not mind numbingly so. He also wasn't rambling constantly. The other clientele was fairly mixed, a professional, a few day laborer, a few old, a few young, but only about 10-12 total. No real "thug factor" - which is expected for afternoon/evening.
