The Porthole Pub is a good...

The Porthole Pub is a good place for a sleazy time. I had fun there Friday afternoon. This place looks like what we Midwesterners would call a "beer joint." In a strip mall on Sample Road just East of I-95, nothing but the name on the side of the building. The entrance door opens onto the bar, a large open square with bar stools all the way around. The stage is small, and there were a few low chairs and tables on either side, but most patrons and dancers filled in around the bar. Cute, efficient bartender and reasonable drink prices.

Contact is immediate at the Porthole. Within 30 seconds of sitting down (and before I couuld order a drink), a dancer sat next to me and "shook hands with the French Ambassdor." She was off to the main stage for her set while I regained my composure, and I had a moment to survey the talent. The day shift was half young, AA cuties (some slender, some thick) and half Caucasian moms. None of the white girls appeared under 30, and there were no spinners or beauties, but looking around the bar, friskiness trumped cute.

I spent an hour or so with a tall, skinny, energetic AA dancer from Georgia who had just started work there that week. Dances at the bar were $10, $25 in a private booth, but frequent 2 for 1 announcements made the friction booths a better deal than the other Pompano clubs. Pleasant company and mutual contact between the lap dances, too.
