This is definitely more of a place that you would enjoy as a biker bar than a strip club. The area around Williamsburg may be changing (for the better or worse depending on your history here in the borough) but Pumps has reminded true to its brashness. It's a place where 40+ year old high heeled veterans try to hustle a few dollars out of the horrified new comers and stubborn regulars. Once you get settled in however, the place does exude it's own charm. You start to notice the younger strippers behind the bar. The old bar is gnarled but kept clean. I could see myself hanging out here if I lived in the neighborhood for a quick drink and hangout (that being said, there's little residences in the area. As close as a warehouse/industrial feel to a neighborhood I've been to in BK).
The girls are nice when you can find a young one. It's a mixed field mostly. Of the 4 girls I saw working it was two white girls (30 and mid 40's in age, neither attractive) and two other girls (one spanish early 30's who was a 5 and one black girl late 20's who was a 7). I spent my time with the black girl (don't remember her name, sorry). She was still in school and had the biggest pair of silver high heeled shoes I'd ever seen. She came tip toeing her way towards me and chatted for a bit. Pleasant enough but didn't get a lapper. Got the impression extras were out of the question. After finishing my beer (6 bucks domestic)and remembering the L train was long walk away I was out the door. Would only go back if friend is in the area.
