Rick's Cabaret is one of a few clubs close in to downtown Minneapolis that cabbies prefer for a quick drop off without going too far out of their way. On the same Saturday night, I visited both the Seville and Rick's, on the recommendations of two different local cabbies (after checking the reviews on TUSCL). Like at Seville on the same evening, the crowd was mostly twenty somethings.
There were three stages active on this evening. The fairly large main stage is located at the far end of the club from the entrance. The secondary stage is much smaller and is located a few feet within the door, essentially straight ahead as you come into the door. The third stage is very small, and reminds me of table stages I have seen in other clubs. It is roughly between the other two stages and is very close to the bar.
Similar to most topless clubs, on all of the stages the dancers performed two dances -- the first clothed and the second topless. The main stage had an interesting feature I haven't seen before. Somewhere (and I didn't look closely) there is a fan mounted low near the front lip of the stage. When the dancer approaches the air stream, it provides a Marilyn Monroe style blowing of clothing and hair. And the breeze appears to be a cool one, based on the effect it sometimes had. The main stage has no real rail action. The second stage has some (there appeared to be a bachelor party near it). The third had no chairs near it, although someone would occasionally come up to the dancer and tip the dancer.
