Heard about this previously unknown club...

Heard about this previously unknown club from an Albuquerque dancer and decided to check it out. It is about 8 miles south of the center of Artesia, out in the middle of nowhere. It is on the east side of US Highway 285 in an old building which formerly housed the Branding Iron steakhouse. Park and enter in the back, away from the highway. Sign says “Open Tuesday to Thursday 6 pm to 1 am, and Friday - Saturday 6 pm to 2 am, $5 cover from 6-7”. The place is closed on Sunday and Monday. I paid $10 cover at 9 pm.

This is a basic rural, dive strip joint. Not the smallest SC I’ve ever been in but the main room is not large, holding maybe a dozen tables. There is a Private room for topless dances for $20 each and a VIP room for nude dances. I did not visit the VIP room, but was told by a couple of dancers it was $10 to enter and each dance is $35 (nude). I was also told if you leave the VIP room after your dances you have to pay an additional $10 to re-enter. Steep prices for New Mexico SC dances, but the next nearest SC is many miles away so they have a corner on the market. I was told the club has been opened less than 10 months, and until recently it was completely off my radar.

Paid my cover to an attractive blonde and the DJ was right behind her, both of them behind what looked like was previously the bar of the old steakhouse. The DJ did a minimum of talking, and I found the music to be OK and for the most part not too loud. Most songs were typical SC songs, a few popular songs, some good old rock-n-roll, and I even heard a Country song. No alcohol and all soft drinks/water were in an upright cooler which was self serve you then pay the door girl for your selections, so no waitresses. I paid $2 for a bottle of water. There is a game room where I saw 2 pool tables and a few video games for those wanting a break from looking at the girls. Bathroom was OK, not great, but nicer than some I’ve seen at other clubs. No smoking in the club -- state law.
