I made a valiant effort to visit as many of Tampa’s 30 + clubs as I could during a recent brief visit, and failed miserably. However, I can offer some generalizations. Firstly, many of the clubs are real dumps, particularly when seen by the harsh light of day, like the “Mermaids World Class Gentleman’s Club”. The clubs on US19 seem to cater for a younger, local population, while those around Adamo Drive and Ybor seems to be located in economically challenged areas - I almost made it to Scarlett’s at Ybor Strip well after midnight, but turned around after being spooked by the location ( mile upon mile of desolated railroad tracks and road diversions). The clubs on N Dale Mabry Highway are lap dance factories where having a decent conversation with the girls is difficult if not impossible.

So, it was with considerable relief that I happened upon “Thee Dollhouse” located on N. Westshore Blvd, very close to Tampa International Airport. This club has been extensively remodeled and looks great , large central bar and stages to the side. Lots of flat-panel TVs all over the place – my biggest complaint would be the noise level. The atmosphere was good – like a loud, raucous party; people were friendly.

Best of all, the girls, including the waitresses, were hot. Spent a pleasant 30 minutes in the private rooms for $160 – a relative bargain – though much touching is not permitted. I suspect hidden cameras are in use, judging by the speed with which an attendant advised me of the rules!

Would definitely go back, and not waste time at the dumps.
