To celebrate my birthday, I decided to check out a strip joint in downtown San Francisco on Friday afternoon around 4pm. I chose the Crazy Horse because a few of my friends recommended it to me a while back. First of all, the location of the strip club is in a sketchy part of town. It’s in a middle of a really tough slum like area which is known for its homeless people, druggies, and assorted weirdos. Anyone not familiar with the area should be cautious and be aware of their surroundings especially at night. Paid a twenty dollar cover charge and received a stamp that was good for re-entry for the rest of the day. The club is not that impressive as it consists of only one small room with movie theater style seats that are not really built for comfort. As soon as you enter the club you appear to be in the back row of seats facing a movie screen, except rather than a movie screen, the seats all face the main stage where dancers did their stuff. As you walk further into the room, a second set of seats surround the main stage in a semi circle. It’s apparent that these seats were meant to be for patrons who want to get up close and personal to any dancer that happened to be on stage. The back seats were mainly for people who didn’t want to offer tips for dancers and were most likely concerned with just getting VIP dances. Dancers would come over to the back seats in between dance sets in an effort to strike up a conversation and perhaps entice them into a VIP in the back room. Apparently, afternoons are not all that busy as there were only a handful of people in the theater at a time. I counted no more than 6-7 patrons at all times while I was there whereas the dancers numbered in the 8-10 range. On the negative side, dancers were hit or miss in quality – for every attractive lady it seemed like there was one unattractive lady. In addition, there wasn’t a diversity of dancers as it was predominantly Asian. I only counted one Latin and a black dancer, but the rest were Asian. The lack of quality, quantity, and diversity could just be an aberration as I don’t know how the night time lineup of dancers stacked up so I tried to take it with a grain of salt. As a positive, I spent most of my time in the front row tipping the dancers, and for my efforts I was given a good amount of grinding and physical contact with most of them. I was never approached for a VIP dance nor did I seek one as I did not think the quality was up to par. Therefore, I don’t know the VIP pricing breakdown, and although your mileage may vary, I’ve heard that you generally get good mileage starting with $100 and above provided you find a girl that you get along with very well. All in all, the experience was underwhelming and I didn’t really feel like spending more time there and I ended up leaving an hour and half later at 5:30pm.
