I'm embarrassed to admit that I was a semi-regular at this club many years ago (mid 90s to early 2000s), but finally the quality-to-price became so low that I stayed away for a long time. I happened to visit on two recent Fridays and am pleased to report that the club has improved from its depths.

6th Avenue Dancers is located at the corner of 6th Avenue and Lafayette Avenue, a block east of 7th Street and a few blocks off of US 41, the main north-south road through town, on the scuzzy near north side of Terre Haute. Street parking is free and probably safe (at least I've never had any problems in dozens of visits over the years) in a shabby neighborhood that is rapidly being consumed by Union Hospital. The club is unimpressive on the outside and not much better on the inside, though certainly better than ten years ago.

A cashier behind a dark window checks your ID and relieves you of $5, at least on weekends. (I got in free both times recently because I had old free passes from the newspaper.) Inside you will see a single small stage with two poles, a DJ booth, a well-stocked bar, and several small round tables with two kitchen chairs each. The lap dance area consists of a few torn-up sofas (take those stilettos off first, ladies!) behind a beaded curtain. The bathroom is bleak.
