I went to Club Sin Rock Thursday night 1/26/2012 between 10:45 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. I only go to this club to see one particular dancer that I have known for six years. I wish she worked at a more interesting club. She previously worked at Rick's and Honey's before they closed on May 5, 2010. I only go about once a month. If it were closer to home, I might go more often. As I entered the club, approximately twelve dancers were on shift. Less than half of the seats were taken.

A few months ago, the club made some physical changes. The straight chairs on the main floor were replaced with upholstered chairs, which gives the room a much more comfortable look, and the four-foot high partitions that separated the bench seats from the aisle behind them were removed and the bench seats were moved to other locations, further opening up the room, visually. On this trip I noticed that the "bird baths" that were used as tip trays for the dancers on stage had been removed. (I sense the club couldn't stand the jokes about the bird baths any longer.) The space where the bird baths were located between the tip rail and the stage has been filled in by a hard, carpeted surface extending to the stage. (Similar to filling in an orchestra pit in a proscenium stage theater.) It's at the height of the tip rail, but at least eight inches to a foot short of the height of the stage. The dancers are not allowed to use this area for their stage performances. So the stage still feels a great distance away from the tip rail. Also, "air boxes" have been installed at the front corners of this surface which customers can put dollar bills in. There is air blowing from these boxes, making it "rain." I did not see anyone using the air boxes while I was there. These changes do not add to customer enjoyment, any.

A procedural change was made in conjunction with the above change between the tip rail and the stage. Dancers still perform on stage for two songs, but a third song has been injected into the usual format. The third song is the time for the dancer to get dressed and walk onto the stage addition to collect her tips. She is now expected to walk across the stage to collect her tips, as opposed to the previous procedure where she would walk out front to collect them from the bird baths. A couple of dancers I talked to didn't care for the change. Now every third song represents "dead air" with no dancer on stage. Again, another change that doesn't add to customer enjoyment.
