after irene swept through on sat...

after irene swept through on sat nite/sun (half hour of which was spent hunkered down in my closet with a bottle of wine during a tornado warning) monday dawned clear and bright with that pronounced itch to blow off some post hurricane anxiety in the only way i know best...it's an hour and a half drive to my fav den of iniquity (and as we all know when you really need it, you really NEED it)so imagine my disappointment upon the approach to see an empty lot full of leaves and tree limbs and a clearly deserted and shuttered lounge...like an H addict who couldn't get his fix i set my sights on this nearest alternative...which may be the lowest profile establishment in the area...on a busy main drag but low-slung and set back from the road in a little depression...a tiny sign the size of an afterthought and parking around the back...but at least it was open...sort of...

upon entering the semi-dark confines there was already (@3pm)a moderately populated bar with four or five girls curled up with regs...the darkness was normal but it was eerily quiet too...just the clinking of ice in glasses and the uncompromised murmur of human voices...of course, the power was out!...no music! no dancing or stripping!...just the few and the lonely copping their fix and the four or five dedicated sisters of mercy (and sensuality) who had the temerity and good will to show up-power be damned. in a world in which misery and aggravation are rampant, and succor or solace harder to come by (unless you're still looking in the bottom of a bottle) than a three dollar bill, a good-ole-time strip club opening in the teeth of an indefinite power outage warms the cockles of my heart and earns my future business...and btw, i'd forgotten how lovely girls can still look with their clothes ON...
