Alright, being new to the area...
Alright, being new to the area and reading several reviews, it seemed apparent that "the Church" is where I needed to got to have a good time. From the beginning I'll be honest, I was looking for a little more than lap dances and based on the reviews, this didn't seem like too much to ask. It did however, set my hopes for the evening rather high. I did have a good time and will give it another shot because I did enjoy the ladies and the club and think I just didn't know how to play the St. James game. What follows is my St. James survival guide to having a good time based on my mistakes on Wednesday night.
First, seating. The Church has lots of seats around many many stages. One main, two side, and one upstairs. After midnight on a Monday night, they used all 4, which means if you see a babe on the main stage, you'll be waiting 8 songs until she's free from her obligations and she'll be in VIP when she gets off stage. So the likelihood of you getting first bids is slim. So, my advice, sit close to the stage and enjoy the scenery until someone you like comes to you or you can get their attention as they walk around. Also don't sit by the dressing room door. Maybe an obvious mistake, but no one cares about you if you sit there.
Second, atmosphere. Drinks were moderately priced. I payed $6.25 for a beer. Did have one dancer assume I was buying her drink also, so kind of awkward but she didn't hustle me and we talked for a while. Decent music, standard stuff. The stage drops down for dancers to change and the lights drop down from the ceiling, which is cool too I guess. After 7pm, cover was $15, kind steep in my opinion. Clean place though and you can smoke inside.
