I found myself with an extra long layover at the Calgary airport due to a missed connection and remembered that the Big Easy club was in close proximity. I hadn't been there in years and it has changed considerably, most notably the name it is now called "The Cathouse." The exterior is different, I can't remember exactly how it looked before but it's all black with red lighting, it almost looks like it could be a vampire hangout. Inside, the bar looked more or less the same bit a bit more updated -the walls are littered with tasteful photos of scantily women from times gone by, a very nice touch. The most exciting change at The Cathouse is the addition of a VIP room. I was very surprised when the lovely brunette who signed my poster asked me if I wanted a dance. She was stunning so naturally I said yes, she led me to the back bar where she explained that dances were $30 for 5min. I paid the bartender $30 and she recorded the dance on a clipboard, the dancer then led me to the VIP area and explained that it was a no contact dance. She started dancing right away and I asked if she would wait for the start of the next song and she explained that the dance was timed with a timer on the wall and not by the song. She proceeded with the dance which I found to be 5 minutes of frustration, she wasn't kidding about the "no contact" and remained about am arms length away for the duration -I got more contact when she signed my poster in the front row! If I return to Calgary I will know not to get a dance cause a few loonies thrown on stage will get a few minutes of attention and a sexy souvenir. All in all it was a decent time at The Cathouse, in the time I was there I caught 3 stage shows, and each girl was a 7-8. Not very many girls walking around but not too surprising considering time and day of week. If I find myself with some time to kill in Calgary again I will most likely return to The Cathouse.
