Made the trek to the ABC...
Made the trek to the ABC to pick up some souvenirs for a friend and stayed for the view. The only thing that has changed is the dancers. An Anchorage landmark, it is in a class by itself for Alaska and if in town, a must see stop for anyone who hasn’t been. A large stand alone building with a rustic theme (lots of unfinished wood), as you enter the building the bar is on your right hand side with the stage to your left. No cover and the bouncers and staff are genuinely friendly. Bouncers were more concerned with where I parked than with any kind of thug pat down or BS intimidation. Semi-tiered seating as described in previous reviews has always struck me as awkward because the room just doesn’t seem to flow well. Lighting is good and music is not deafening. Though this used to be outrageously expensive it seems like the rest of the states have caught up and the club is now very reasonable. Most drinks are in the $5-8 range and LDs are $20.
Dancers are the best looking in Alaska and most are recruited and imported from the lower 48. Full nude stage dances by the second song and LDs occur where ever there is room when it’s crowded. No VIP, no touching by the customers and no high pressure from the dancers. It is a take it or leave it proposition as far as LDs. If you don’t say yes when asked, the dancer will immediately move on. Not much chance for sitting and interacting unless you are either a regular-regular or are freely dropping serious money. Overall it’s a nice place and safe experience - the kind of place that an average married guy could go to and leave guilt-free when he went home. In other words, good clean wholesome fun looking at hot naked women.
