If a strip club has no customers, does it make a sound? Walking into Centerfolds on an early Tuesday evening, I notice right away that I'm the sole customer. No music, no dancer on stage, and two incredibly bored dancers lounging in the back of the club. As they see me, they leap to their feet, the music cranks up, the DJ announces a dancer on stage, and the club comes to "life." It's an incredibly sad feeling.
After the rote delivery of my can of soda, a young dancer sidles up and starts promising a magical trip to the moon via the art of the lap dance. I take her up on it, and after two dances the moon remained a distant destination. Nice girl, but remember: the truly good dancers don't have to make promises.
This club has got some potential, but it still lacks energy and spark. The inevitable comparison to Ricks comes to mind, but even the Deja Vu clubs get it: keep the energy up, keep the place hopping and fun, and the customers will come.
