Diamond Cabaret
1222 Glenarm Pl Denver, CO 80204
Sunday night...meh
Diamond Cabaret is near the convention center on the outskirts of the central business district. I arrived on a recent Sunday at 8 pm and admission was $20. The club’s main floor consists of a large circular room with 2 bars (one to the left of the entrance and one across the floor) and 4 freestanding circular stages without poles (damn) and seating around the stages. The club is somewhat attractive but nothing special. I opted for the bar across the floor from the entrance with about 6 seats. There is a very small, reserved VIP area next to that bar. The club was dead when I arrived – maybe one or two other customers. Wine was $10 and the bartenders were very friendly and attractive. About 10 or so entertainers seemed to be on the floor – most were 6 and 7s. Within 5 minutes an attractive light-skin Black dancer (an 8) sat down next to me at the bar – definitely with a silicone-enhanced rack. She was friendly with the typical entertainer stage name. We talked for about 20 minutes (she was relatively interesting – traveled a lot for dancing). Then the pitch – lap dances upstairs for $55 (!) each. She also pitched private rooms for $720 for 30 and $1,100 for 60. I know Denver has silly pricing for lap dances but $55 is ridiculous. The dancer was attractive but… So after a few wines, I decided to try 2 dances. We proceeded upstairs where you check in at a desk and I was told it’s $10 to use the upstairs area. Also, there was a big sign stating cameras were in use. That’s a buzz kill. Lap dances are in small rooms with no doors but are relatively private. Dances were high mileage with lots of mutual touching (above the waist) – different from reviews I had read. While there was lots of contact, the dances weren’t worth $55. She started with the high-pressure pitch for more dances by the end of the second. I passed and we went back to the bar where she tried again to sell me on more dances. When I said I wanted to have a drink she took off to work the room (without much luck). There was a parade of dancers after she left with most only mildly attractive. When I left at 11ish there were more dancers on the floor and a small bachelor party going on but the place was still dead. All in all, the club was a disappointment and I wouldn’t revisit the club and definitely would pass on the $55 lap dances.
