Fun Times
I arrived at the club around 9:40 pm on 8/17. There was a very small line waiting to get in which I found unusual since I am usually able to walk right in at that time. There was a nice looking lady talking to the bouncer at the entrance who appeared to be trying to get her and her friends in without paying a cover. I think she told him that they were potential dancers who were there to check out the club. That didn't work and they ended up paying. Her friends looked like they could pass as above average looking dancers so maybe she was being honest. Once I got in I got my usual beverage for $10 Canadian which was more than I have paid in the past. I used to pay $7 Canadian. I walked around and noticed my favorite dancer was on one of the smaller stages so I made sure she saw me and walked on by. I waited for her to find me which she will usually do and when she didn't I walked back to where she was dancing and saw her sitting with someone. I later found out she was "booked" for the night with that guy so I moved on somewhat disappointed. I found my second favorite dancer and we went back to the VIP room for several $20 dances. The room was extremely warm bordering on hot with no AC working. When I asked about that I was told the owners had installed new AC units on the roof but the duct work in the bldg couldn't handle it so it was shut down. The last time I was in the club the VIP rooms were freezing but I'd rather have it to cold than to hot but I'm not sure the dancers would agree. As a side note I noticed that there weren't as many dancers as usual working and I wonder if the AC issues have something to do with that. After my dances with my second favorite dancer I had several others with various ladies then left the club around 12:30 am. There was the usual long line of guys waiting to get into the club so I'm glad I left when I did. As I've said in other reviews the club is way to small to handle the volume of customers that show up on Sat nights. I think the owners are trying to do their best to upgrade it but I've heard there are local politicians who want the club shut down and I wonder if they are refusing to give the owners a bldg permit to upgrade it. If that is true then I don't know how much longer the club will remain as it is definately showing it's age.

A Typical Night at the Dwnr
I visited on May 25 and arrived around 9:40 pm. There were construction fences up around the entrance with a big sign saying they were still open. Hopefully this means the owners are finally upgrading (and hopefully enlarging) the club. The cover charge was only $15 as opposed to the usual $20 charge but that may of been because I got there before 10 pm. I walked in and bought my customary beverage. The club was pretty empty for a Sat night with most people crowded around the TV's watching the Raptors basketball game. Since I'm not a bb fan I was happy to get the added attention from the dancers. My first dance was with my friend Sonia and was the usual very good experience. After she was done an ebony dancer came up who was clearly drunk so I passed on her. The next dancer who approached me was a cute Asian girl and I had 2 average dances with her with limited contact. The next dancer was what I assumed was one of the "Girls of Summer" who only dance at the club from May-Oct then disappear for the Winter. Her name was Ava and she was a cute little spinner who said she was Bi and preferred girls over guys which is fine. She also was into asses and pointed out several of the girls who she thought had nice ones. She gave me several good dances and was very nice. The club then had what they called a Special Event where all the dancers rotated uthrough the main stage to Star Wars music and then were told to go find a customer for a free dance. It was somewhat disorganized so I don't know if it was the first or second night they had done this. They didn't do it in Apr when I was there. My friend Sonia came over and after the free dance we went to the VIP area for some more time together. I left after that as there was a line of guys waiting to get into the club. It was shortly before midnight. All in all it was a decent evening and I will return when I'm able

A Nice Time
I went back to the Dwnr on 4/6 after a 2 month hiatus. I went in around 9 pm and the cover charge was only $15 instead of the usual $20 which was nice. I decided to go a little earlier to see if there was any difference between 9 pm and 10 pm. I was surprised to see the club wasn't that busy with no birthday or bachelor parties going on and it remained that way the entire I was there which was unusual. I got my usual beverage of choice and sat down at a table which was also nice since the club is usually so full I can't sit anywhere. A nice blonde named Sandy came up and started talking so I sat with her and we talked for awhile. I hadn't seen her in quite a while and after buying her a drink we went back to the VIP area for some dances. She gave good dances with the usual amt of allowed contact. Next up was Brooke who was from Ottawa. She was a little spinner with a nice body and we had a nice time. Afterwards I saw one of my favorite dancers, Sonia and we went to the VIP area for an extended time which we usually do. A black dancer (don't remember her name) came up after that and after a little conversation we went to the VIP area. She gave good dances but she wanted a tip at the end of our time which I will never give if the girl asks for one. If I think the girl deserves a tip I will give one. After that I took a break then saw my other favorite dancer Kristen and it was back to the VIP area for another extended amt of time. I ended the night back with Sonia. All in all it was a nice evening. The club never really got that busy which I think made for a more enjoyable evening. They are bringing in a headliner on Apr 12 so I'm sure the club will be packed that night.

QEW Closed
I went to the Downer last Sat. I usually go over the Peace Bridge to get to Canada and everything was fine until I got on the QEW. At the first exit (Thompson Rd) I was forced off the QEW due to construction. Canada must not know what detour signs are because I was never saw any and I was totally lost. I made a right turn onto Rt 3 (or whatever they call their roads) and stayed on it until I came to a gas station. An suv with 2 elderly people pulled in after I did and they were also lost and trying to get to Toronto. The Pakistani working there said to just stay on Rt 3 until I got to Stevensville and there would be signs back to the QEW. I kept driving and never saw any signs for Stevensville or the QEW. I just kept going for what seemed like hrs until I came to another gas station with another Pakistani who said to make a right turn onto their Rt 140 which was right there and stay on it until I saw signs for the QEW. Of course that never happened either. I stayed on the 140 until it ended and there was a sign pointing to Niagara Falls so I turned right and kept on the road until it ended with no direction signs saying which way to go. I turned left and followed the road to another gas station which happened to actually be on Lundy's Lane so I made it to the Downer after a 1.5 hr trip though the freakin Canadian countryside in the dark. After I go.t there I tried to enter the Downer but Security said the club was full and that I had to go to Seductions while he let two guys with Seductions wrist bands walk right in. There was another security guy who was taking "reservations" for people to get into the Downer. I immediately thought the guy was full of crap but I went to Seductions and got my wrist band and then waited for 45 min and went back to the Downer. I got in right away once Security saw my wrist band even though there were guys waiting to get in and the Downer WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE to being at max capacity. Based on this it appears the owner of the clubs is forcing people to go to Seductions first before being let into the Downer. If this is true it is total BS. Once I got into the Downer I had a nice time but I will go earlier the next time to see if I can get in without having to go to Seductions first.

Back to Paradise
Finally made it back to the Downer after a long cold Winter. Things were a little different from my last visit in Nov and I found out why from one of the dancers. More on that in a moment. Nothing has changed as far as the cover charge and beer prices which didn't surprise me. What did surprise me was the club wasn't really that busy for a Sat night but then again it is April and it was cold out. I suspect things will return to the normal over crowded situation once the weather warms up. Also I was told the club was supposed to have been shut down during the Winter for renovation but that didn't happen but that could be related to the reason below. Now for what made the club different on this visit. I was told one of the owners recently passed away (during the Winter?) so the club is being run by new ownership. There were a whole group of new dancers working at the club. I was told that the new owner has a quota system as it relates to the dancers. There can only be so many black, latino, eastern european and canadian dancers working at one time. The dancers have to be within a certain height and weight and bra size range. A lot of the veterans who were there a year ago quit because of this ridiculous rule thus all the new dancers. I really didn't notice any "curvy" dancers there which leads me to believe what I was told is true. During my visit the new owner was constantly calling dancers into his office. I found this to be very strange although it seemed to be the same dancers on multiple office visits. I was told the new owner has anger management issues and constantly yells at the dancers. He even has "staff meetings" before the club gets busy and yells at all the dancers at once. This is a very bad development IMO. He could end up driving away his dancers if he continually berates them. It doesn't matter how much money a dancer can make if she is constantly being yelled at by the owner. He sounds like someone who is in over his head and who doesn't know how to manage a SC. In closing let me say the dancers who told me this information are some of the few remaining veterans working at the club and I have known them for a while so I believe what they told me is true. I have no real reason to think otherwise but they may also not like the new owner so they may have an axe to grind. As time goes on I will be paying attention to how things are going at the club and if any more of my veteran dancer friends leave the club. Despite all the changes I still had a great time Sat night and I will be returning to the Downer as soon as possible.

A Nice Club But...
I haven't been to the club since Nov 2017 since I don't like driving in the winter but I will be going back in April if the weather cooperates. Having said that I have always had a nice time there except for one bad experience. The girls are pretty for the most part and aren't overly pushy. The drinks are what you would expect for a strip club but I tend to nurse my beers so I don't spend a lot on alcohol. I don't go to SC's to drink I go to interact with the women anyway. My one huge complaint about this club is it is to damn small. If you go between 10 pm and 2 am on a Sat night don't expect to have a lot of room to move around. Customers are literally packed into the club and it is almost impossible to walk. I feel sorry for the shot girls and waitresses who have to constantly move around not to mention the dancers. The owners also own Seductions next door which is supposed to act as an overflow club but it is so dark and dingy no one wants to go there including the dancers. If the owners were smart they would expand Sundowners, they appear to have enough real estate around it to be able to do that (they could knock down the rub and tug that no one uses if they needed more room) or at the very least gut the interior of Seductions and redo it to modern standards so it could actually function like the overflow club it is supposed to be. Also hire better DJ's. The techno crap they play sucks big time. The girls can't dance to it and so the stage dances suck as well. IMO the best strip club music comes from the 1980's metal bands (AC/DC, ZZ Top etc) or the 90's.
