Your wholesome neighborhood show club
A very small establishment off a busy road, the place feels more like a neighborhood bar than a gentleman’s club. There is one stage with a low ceiling in the middle of the room. Off to the side (just a couple feet away) is a full bar, at which every seat was taken up by late-middle-aged married couples when I was there. They all seemed to know each other and were having a good time, but I couldn’t detect any sort of occasion, like a birthday party. Maybe this is just how people socialize in Chesapeake. It was around 7pm on a Saturday night.
After I came in, I ordered a drink and took a seat near the stage. Staff was courteous but not especially friendly. I definitely felt like a new face in a joint that has its crowd. In the hour or so that I stuck around only two dancers took the stage, doing twenty-minute shifts that mostly entailed wriggling around on the floor. There is a pole, but you can’t do much acrobatics in seven feet of air space unless you wear a helmet. Since this is Virginia, the tops stayed on. Eventually each dancer just reclined on the edge of the stage and settled in for a long chat with the regulars, male and female, who tossed her dollar bills every few minutes. The bills I threw on stage seemed almost comically pointless. During their breaks the dancers ate their DoorDash dinners at the bar.
There were a couple signs advertising private dances in a VIP room, but for the life of me I couldn’t figure out where that would be. Every square foot of the tiny space was visible except for a small kitchen and restrooms. At any rate, the dancers didn’t seem interested at all in private shows, which is amazing since they have to pay the club every time they use the stage (according to another sign urging customer generosity), and they could only have made a few bucks during their routines.
So, in all, not exactly my scene, and no wonder there aren’t many reviews. But then again, this place seems to be what it wants to be. They certainly didn’t lack for customers. If you’re interested in a wholesome neighborhood show club, head on over.
