ATLANTA — A man has been arrested after he allegedly shot at vehicles outside an Atlanta strip club. Officers believe he did it after finding his ex talking with another man inside the club.
On Feb. 3, the City of Atlanta Police Department said that the incident happened shortly after 3:20 a.m. on Jan. 17.
At this time, a Zone 1 officer was conducting a traffic stop near 1271 Marietta Boulevard NW when he heard gunshots. The officer immediately went to investigate and was flagged down by a security officer from the Vivide Atlanta nightclub and strip club. The security officer informed police that they had disarmed a man who was shooting at vehicles.
Additional backup units were called in. The suspect, identified as Michael Bowers, briefly resisted, but officers were able to detain him.
Preliminary investigation indicates Bowers became upset because his ex‑girlfriend was inside the club speaking with another man. He allegedly left the club and returned with a firearm. He then shot his ex‑girlfriend’s vehicle while parked and damaged another vehicle as well with gunfire. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Police said Bowers is also a confirmed convicted felon. He was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of criminal damage to property, discharging a firearm near a roadway, reckless conduct, and felony obstruction. He was booked into the Fulton County Jail under a $55,000 bond.
