Is Atlanta dying? During the last week I have seen unconfirmed reports that Allure, Seductions and Club Wax have all closed. I see other clubs like Aria South and Follies constantly looking for help, especially dancers.

I am hesitant to report these clubs as closed until I can see some confirmations.

Haven’t heard of Wax being closed.

Seductions is apparently moving to a sister club. I think whatever is happening with Seduction is temporary.

Clubs always come and go at the Allure location. Someone else will eventually try again at that building.

Is it gentrification? Is it Atlanta booming as a tech city, leading sexy girls to strip online instead of a stage? There is demand everywhere except employment seekers.

Call me a romantic, but I had such an amazing time my one time at Follies with that ripped Costa Rocan beauty. Complete RIL obsession. Thank goodness I didn't live in Atlanta or the past 10 years may have been very different. I digress; call me a romantic, but that sole Follies visit was so unbeatable that it feels like it would cheapen the memory to strip club anywhere else in Atlanta after it closed.

@shadowcat I see where you got that info. Never listen to anything that guy says - he knows nothing about stripclubs.

Wax has been closed on Tuesdays for the longest time.

I look at it in a narrow, selfish way. As long as Vivide chugs along, you have no reason to care about what happens with any other club in ATL. The main problem there is too little customer $. The strippers often have a hard time even getting $200 for extras VIP. But Cuban dancers are the backbone of the club, and they don't have any prudish shame about the work. They don't feel like they need to make many times what other work pays for sex work to be worth it. So they're more inclined to grind harder than give up on it.
I remember seeing a documentary comparing kids in Mexico with kids in the US. They had them play a really simple game. You put one checker on the checkerboard. The two players take turns moving it one space. You win by moving the checker to the back row on your opponents side. It took the Mexican kids typically about a minute to figure out they needed to take turns letting each other win. The US kids just had meltdowns about what a stupid game it was. We Americans don't feel like we're winning unless we make somebody else lose. That's why immigrant Latina strippers are generally the best. The game to them is simply getting your money. Not getting your money while doing as little for you as they can get away with.
It would be nice if the better manager (Barry?) could get enough pull there somehow, to stop the bad manager, and the crabby old lady who apparently owns the place, from fucking with things. There was a scare about losing the unpaved parking area (which would really suck), but it hasn't materialized. But, on the other hand, maybe cheap, driverless Waymo taxis will some be available to whisk you through the insane Atlanta traffic. (I think Fulton County must waive your driver's license fee, if you have a blood test that proves you smoke crack on a daily basis.)
So, bottom line, I'm old enough so I think I'll probably be dead before Vivide stops being very satisfactory.

I don’t think they’re dead but it is probably slower than it was 10-15 years ago. Of course a lot of people think of Follies which isn’t coming back.

I like TT. Business is a bit down I think but it’s not going anywhere. I also like Syn which isn’t booming but does seem to be gaining traction.

There are a ton of clubs in Atlanta and some fixtures have closed in the last few years. Government has closed some and some couldn’t get traction.
