Longer ago than I care to admit (late 70s early 80s) I was a young and dumb Marine stationed at 29 Palms, Ca. On weekends we would road trip to a place we called San Luis, Mexico, just over the border from Yuma, Az. We'd hang out at the red light district, drink beer, bang hookers, fight with the locals and generally misbehave like 18 year old Marines do.
As I recall, the redlight district was zoned just outside of town and built in a "U" shape. The top of the U had a couple of nicer bars with floor shows, Mariachis and singers. As you progressed down, the bars got seedier and seedier (think Bar Reno). At the bottomm of the "U" was a place called Pigalli (or as we called it, Pig Alley)
Taco stands were interspersed with the bars and at the opposite end of the "U" was a jail.
Does anyone else remember this place? Does it still exist? Lots of great memories there!
