Thinking back 5-10 years ago Carl's(post new location) was the nicer bar in the area. The atmosphere was better, the club was cleaner and the girls were usually better looking. On a Fri or sat night you would even find girls from larger clubs that came to Carl's to make a little extra money. Since the competition had faded the last few years(Bobby's, Playpen, Louie's, OSB) it seems that Carl's has gotten complacent. Girls just sit around, dances are $20 for short songs, they have no specials and the upstairs is rarely open.
While places like Knockouts may be a little grittier they seem determined to win over customers. Cheaper regular dances(with more mileage), $10 dance days, drink and food specials. Most importantly dancers that actually walk the room looking to give dances.
Does Carl's still get good crowds? Do you think they'll respond to the competition by implementing improvements( dance/drink specials) or at the very least having full songs for their $20 dances?

At my one visit to Carl's (I reviewed it months ago), I was unimpressed. Some of the dances I got were good dances, lots of contact, but I probably gave a higher review than is fair. The place LOOKS nice inside, clean, and the bar was fine. But the dancers were mostly hanging out by themselves scrolling on their phones. They had no interest in socializing before a dance. Or after.
The night I was there it was pretty empty, and a few of the people there were clearly off duty (?) cops. At least, I had no fear of anything crazy going down.
