PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A massive fire tore through a gentlemen’s club in Lehigh County Monday.
Officials were called to Silhouettes Showbar on the 100 block of East Station Avenue in Coopersburg just after midnight. Some apartments are located above the club.
Cell phone video shows flames shooting out of the first-floor windows before fire crews arrived.
Fire crews from Lehigh, Northampton and Montgomery counties have all been on scene working to get the fire under control. No injuries have been reported.
The club has been closed for remodeling since late May, per its Facebook page.

last commentYknow, strip clubs have nominal evacuation diagrams and plans on the walls if you look closely. As with any/all businesses, you have to have an emergency action plan and how to account for your visitors and employees.
I wonder if clubs actually ever consider or train on these. Or give a shit beyond posting it once and forgetting about it. I know when I check into a hotel I look at my evacuation diagram to orient myself in case of an emergency.
This type of incident should (but probably won’t) be a nudge to the owner to invest a little in prepping for this type of incident again.

Buildings including strip clubs have occupancy limits. How many clubs enforce the limits. I know that Follies got a couple of notices from the fire marshal for too many people and then had to start restricting the number of people in the club. Then comes the problem of who do you restrict dancers or customers?

TCabot, good thoughts. Got to admit I don't pay as much attention as I should. I doubt owners practice evacuations. They should. I worked in the chemical industry and evacuation alarms, procedures and rally points are big focus items.

Some additional details. Building experienced a fire a couple weeks ago. Hence the "closed for remodeling" statement from ownership.

The requirements for such plans exist because we had horrible accidents in the past. Think back in the 19th century there were bad fires at textile mills and tons of people died. Really was a catalyst to force industries to do something proactive/preparedness.
