Police arrested a man accused of robbing a dancer at gunpoint and threatening to kill her at an Austin strip club early Saturday morning.
Robert Hughes, 36, faces charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
According to an arrest affidavit, the victim told police that Hughes came into Chicas Bonitas where she works as a dancer. After she gave Hughes a dance, he paid her and she went to the bathroom. Hughes then allegedly banged on the bathroom door, claiming the woman stole money from his pocket.
The affidavit states that Hughes grabbed the victim's purse, dumped out its contents, took the money he paid her, and fled with her purse containing her personal belongings. She chased after Hughes to recover her property. Hughes allegedly threatened to kill her if she didn't give him his money back, pointed a gun at her, and demanded she send him $2,000 via Cash App.
A second male suspect also allegedly threatened the victim, telling her she would die if she didn't get Hughes the money. Police found her purse, a gun, and drugs in the second man's vehicle. Both men were arrested and face aggravated robbery charges. Hughes also faces drug possession charges after police said they found cocaine, meth, and amphetamines on him.
